HAMSA Recovery Group (Monday, Oct 2, 2017 11:00 am - 12:30 pm)

A therapeutic group that focuses on promoting recovery and helping individuals gain a deeper understanding of its roots, causes and conditions. Through the process of recovery, there is a need to better understand ourselves and how we relate to others. In addition to gaining the support of others, we will explore how to navigate life’s challenges with a specific emphasis on boundary setting and adopting new ways of thinking.

Who: Open to anyone who wants support through his or her own recovery process.

When: Thursdays from 6 - 7 pm

Cost: $35 per session (we have financial assistance for those who qualify)

Join us for Atlanta’s largest Jewish young adult volunteer day. We have 12 great projects all over Atlanta so there is something for everyone!

Registration opens at 7 pm on Thursday, September 7th and will be open until noon on Wednesday, October 4th.

Starting Over Divorce Group (Monday, Oct 9, 2017 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm)

Starting Over is a Divorce Support Group for men and women who are separated or divorced. Issues discussed are legal, communication, letting go, parenting, rejection, dating and adjusting to differences. Meetings are at JFCS the second and last Monday at 6:00-8:00 pm. Helen Kotler, Ph. D, LPC is the facilitator at 4042109571. Cost is $25 per session.

Caregiver Support Group - Dunwoody (Tuesday, Oct 10, 2017 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm)

This is an open group for caregivers who are caring for family members. We hope to provide a safe and supportive place for caregivers in similar situations to come together to share stories and resources and to support one another. There is no fee to attend this group. It is requested that first time attendees contact Debbi Dooley before attending the group.

Career Bootcamp (Wednesday, Oct 18, 2017 10:00 am - 5:00 pm)

Careers is introducing PATH, a new program to help you achieve your job search goals. Through PATH you will create a strategic job search plan, marketable resume and cover letters, enhance interviewing techniques and more.

This one day boot camp workshop which will cover job search strategy, resume, cover letters, LinkedIn, networking, interview techniques, and salary negotiation. After the boot camp you will be matched with a Career Coach who will work one-on-one with you to customize the strategies and material you learned in the boot camp.

Caring, sharing, and encouragement, all essential elements of the human experience, may be found in this group for caregivers. Whether you are taking care of a spouse, parent, other family member, loved one, friend, or neighbor, we hope that this group will provide you with a safe place to share your thoughts and feelings and help you to develop a network of support through an exchange of information and experiences.

This is an open and free group.

Location: Huntcliff Summit I (1st floor conference room), 8592 Roswell Road, Sandy Springs.

Kosher Food Sort at ACFB (Sunday, Oct 22, 2017 9:00 am - 4:00 pm)

Join us for the third annual Community-wide Kosher Food Sort at the Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB) on Sunday, October 22.Sign up and help us sort the kosher food donated from your synagogue during Operation Isaiah. This will allow us to fill the shelves of the JF&CS Kosher Food Pantry in the months to come!

Two shifts to choose from: 9 am – 12 pm or 1 – 4 pm. All children must be at least 8 years old and accompanied by an adult. 

Space is limited and opportunities will be provided on a FIRST COME FIRST SERVED basis. RSVP is required.
