Lunch and Learn: Healthy Aging and Spirituality

Date: Tuesday, September 19, 2017 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
Can a well-rounded spiritual life help you stay healthy and live longer? Join us for this informative non-denominational program with Rabbi Judith Beiner and Debbi Dooley. We’ll look at spiritual tools, including music, and discuss topics such as legacy, ethical wills and writing a “last letter.”

The program will highlight the research of Dan Buettner, author of The Blue Zones, which studied communities where many people live to age 100 or more, and pointed to the importance of spirituality in promoting health and longevity.

Presenters: Rabbi Judith R. Beiner is the Community Chaplain at Jewish Family & Career Services (JF&CS) of Atlanta, Inc. Her core duties are visitations at area hospitals, hospices, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities.

Debbi Dooley, RN, MS, LPC, NBCC, is a geriatric care manager with Aviv Older Adult Services at JF&CS, primarily focused on serving aging individuals and their care partners, as they deal with family life-cycle challenges. In addition to her work with families and individuals, she facilitates a number of caregiver groups in the Metro Atlanta area.
